The Lakeland Shelter— (LAS)—is a non-profit organization located at 3551 State Road 67 in Delavan, Wisconsin. Our skilled and committed staff, with the help of 50-75 dedicated volunteers, care for over 2,500 homeless animals annually from the southeastern Wisconsin area. Our ultimate goal for these animals is to reunite them with their owners or find suitable new adopted homes. Of the animals that we accept each year, we do not limit our intake based on health, temperament or age! This means that at any given time we have an in-shelter dog population of 40 to 60 dogs and a combination in-shelter/in-foster cat population that consists of 150 to 400 cats. Each of these animals is treated with respect, kindness, and compassion throughout their stay with us, which can range for 1 week to more than a year in some cases. In our eyes, each animal is an individual, and given individual consideration. With that in mind, we have no time limit on how long we house and care for each animal. Over 70% of our annual funding to support these programs and service comes from private donors such as you. Without this support, we would no longer be able to provide this quality care to the homeless animals of our community.
